POLICE are unsure what caused a B-double cattle truck to tip over while travelling along Toowoomba Karara Rd around 2.45pm yesterday.

The male driver of the truck, which belonged to Toowoomba-based Robertson's Transport, was taken to St Vincent's Hospital with minor injuries and for observation.

Rural firefighters, police and other truck drivers teamed up to help remove the trapped cattle from the back of the truck.

A welder was used to break through the back door.

At least one cow had to be destroyed.

A Warwick police spokesman said they were unsure what caused the truck to tip.

"He was travelling along a straight road," he said.

"We don't know how it happened."

The Daily News sought comment from Robertson's Transport but was told the company owner was on site assisting with the recovery operation.

The Clifton police will continue the investigation.
