Arctic Circle primed for Surat Cup charge

RACING: Arctic Circle ($11) has had the perfect preparation for the Surat Cup, after winning at Dalby last Saturday.

The Roma trained horse came from deep in the field to beat Bubba Rocker ($5) and Solo Artist ($3) to win the sixth race at Bunya Park.

Arctic Circle was eighth with 400m left to run, but found space in the middle of the track to gallop away for the win.

Trainer Ben Waldorn said he was pleased with how his mare came through the field for the victory.

"That is how she runs best, she hangs back and then runs home," Waldron said.

"I thought she might have been a bit short today but she ran over the top of them well."

Waldron said Arctic Circle, who will now line-up for the Surat Cup on September 15, has been doing well in trials.

"She won well (today). She has jumped out well at home and I am really happy with her," he said.
