Coast man cut during armed robbery attempt in Gympie

GYMPIE police are investigating the attempted armed robbery on Thursday night of a man in Monkland.

A 32-year-old Buderim man was approached by a man about 9pm at Lake Alford Park, where the stranger threatened him with a knife and demanded his wallet.

The incident triggered a brief struggle and the Sunshine Coast man was cut on his arm.

He attended Gympie Hospital for treatment.

The man who attempted to rob him was described as Caucasian in appearance, about around 170-177cm tall and with a proportionate build.

He is believed to be in his mid 20s.

He was wearing blue jeans and a black hooded jumper with white print.

Anyone who witnessed the incident should contact Gympie police or pass on information anonymously through Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
