LEAGUE: The Miles Devils A-grade team put in an impressive effort on Saturday, dismantling the St George Dragons in a blow-out win of 74-6 in front of an enthusiastic home crowd.

Fresh from a win the previous week, the Devils came out firing, taking the lead in the opening minutes and backing it up with a further two tries before St George posted its first and only points for the game.

The Devils continued their dominance, posting a further three tries and going into the half-time break with a convincing 32-6 lead.

With encouragement from the home crowd increasing, the Devils played the second half as they did the first, totally outplaying St George in both attack and defence.

Scoring a total of seven tries, adding a further 42 points to their half-time lead and, more importantly, conceding no more points to the Dragons, the Devils trumped home to a 74-6 victory.

Although another great team win, both players' player and man of the match went to Tomas Williams, who had an outstanding game in both defence and attack, scoring four tries.

Williams was well supported by Raiden Van Kuik and Ryan Rayner, who scored two tries each, as did Luke Brosnan, who also made eight conversions.

Other try scorers were Travis Rinehart, Tyler Keys and Cameron O'Brien.

In the reserve grade, the Battlers went down to the Dragons 34-44.

With St George scoring first, the Battlers struggled to find their momentum in the first half, going to the break with the Dragons leading 24-14.

In the second half a more determined Battlers side took the field, posting four tries to bring them back into the game.

However, two tries by St George in the later part of the game resulted in the Dragons taking the win 44-34.

This week's man of the match went to Clay Lamb, with two tries each for Kaleb Davies, Brian Argus and James Green, and two conversions by Brad Wheeler.

This weekend the Devils/Battlers take on Cities at the Battlers' home ground in Taroom. The reserve grade match kicks off at 3.30pm, with the A-grade at 5pm.

The following weekend, the club hosts the Devils/Battlers' Annual Ladies Day clash against the Bulldogs in Miles.
