LNP defectors Alex Douglas and Carl Judge are the first MPs to publically declare an allegiance to Clive Palmer's United Australia Party.

Alex Douglas, member for the Gold Coast-based seat of Gaven, resigned from the LNP and moved to the cross benches last year following a disagreement over his removal as chair of the parliamentary ethics committee last year.

Brisbane-based MP for Yeerongpilly Carl Judge resigned from the LNP on the same day.

The two members had meetings with mining magnate Mr Palmer following their resignations last year.

Mr Douglas told Queensland Parliament on Tuesday morning he looked forward to a long history as a UAP representative for the seat of Gaven.

He referred to his former party as the Campbell Newman Party before stating he hoped other MPs would join the UAP in the future.

"The UAP is a party for everyone," he told Parliament.

"It has been set up professionally, it is well and broadly funded, it will run candidates in every seat of the forthcoming federal election, including the Senate, in every state in Australia.

"It will be preparing for any snap election proposed by the current Queensland State Government.

"I believe this party will grow. We welcome anyone who is sick of being stood over, threatened and dictated to and wants to work collectively in a represented democratic party."

Mr Douglas' wife, former National party vice president Susie Douglas, announced last week she was signing up to be an executive member of the UAP.

Mr Judge rose five minutes later to declare his membership with the UAP.

He said the UAP would restore accountability in government and policies would be released in the near future.

Speculation is rife over which MPs will be the next to jump to Mr Palmer's campaign to be Prime Minister.

Mr Palmer will contest the Sunshine Coast set of Fairfax, which encompasses his part time home and Coolum Resort.
