Drunk girl, 15, charged with assault on pregnant woman

A DRUNK teenage girl punched a pregnant woman in the head before assaulting a shopping centre cleaner and resisting arrest, police will allege.

The girl, 15, is due to face court on nine charges relating to a string of incidents which allegedly unfolded in Dalby on Monday evening.

Police will allege the girl struck a pregnant woman in the back of the head about 7.50pm Monday.

The woman filed a report with police, giving a description of the alleged offender before she was taken to hospital as a precaution.

Soon after, police were called to a Dalby shopping centre with reports a juvenile matching the description given by the woman had stolen goods from a temporary store.

Police will allege the girl stuffed a number of items into her handbag inside the store before exiting when a centre cleaner approached the teen in an effort to detain her.

The girl allegedly kicked the man in the genitals then yelled abuse at another member of the public in the centre.

Officers located the girl a short distance away where she was taken into custody and placed in a police paddy wagon with a friend to be taken to the station.

Police attempted to interview the girl's friend when the teen obstructed police, dropping to the ground forcing an officer to lift her into the pod.

She is then alleged to have refused to leave the police vehicle at the station, kicking out at an officer who had attempted to escort her into the building.

The girl was charged with common assault for the two alleged attacks on the pregnant woman and shopping centre cleaner, and five counts of obstruct police.

She was further charged with stealing and public nuisance relating to the verbal abuse of passers-by at the centre.

Police will allege the girl was drunk throughout the series of incidents.

She was released on an undertaking and is due to appear in the Dalby Children's Court in coming weeks.

The officers involved suffered minor injuries.
