Get in line: $40 Aldi suitcase you need in your life

If there's one thing that can convince Aussies to get up early on a Saturday morning, it's an Aldi Special Buys sale.

This weekend's shaping up to be a good'un. We're talking LUGGAGE - and it's good luggage, too.

Aldi's flogging its Skylite brand suitcases for a mere $40 for a carry-on size soft case, and $100 for a set of two larger suitcases.

The great thing about this gear is that it's just as good as top-price brand Samsonite, according to the reviewers at the independent consumer advocacy group Choice.

Recent Choice tests show the 56cm Skylite suitcase ($40) was nearly identical to the 55cm Samsonite 72 Hours DLX case, which is priced at $329.

Both scored equally, 86 per cent, across on a range of tests including stability, puncture, rain, and lift-and-drop tests.

With a $39.99 price tag, the Skylite 56cm soft-case luggage is even better value than the Kmart equivalent.

So if you're looking for a bargain, you might want to hightail it into Aldi this Saturday to pick up some new luggage and the satisfaction of having saved yourself a good couple of hungies.

Heck, the Skylite is even cheaper than the smaller, but also highly rated, Kmart version - the 45.5cm Active&Co case retails for $49.

This time around there's no hard-case luggage up on sale among the Aldi Special Buys (the Aldi take on Samsonite's hard case already created a bit of excitement earlier this year) - well, not for adults, anyway - but there are several other hot travel buys worth a look.

Also up for grabs from Saturday, Aldi's $40 Bauhn noise cancelling headphones get rave reviews from travellers - and are a tiny fraction of the cost of market leading brands like Bose or Sony.

"Given the price, they're the best value noise cancelling headset I've heard of," wrote one self-confessed "audio-nerd" on consumer review site productreview.com.au.

Other reviewers call them "as good as the more expensive brands which cost hundreds more" and the "the best headphones I have ever used to sleep on an international flight".
