HOCKEY: The Warwick Hockey Association is galvanising support from the business community to boost junior hockey in the town.

Association secretary Rosie Corney said sponsorship co-ordinator Gary Zerner had secured 12 new sponsors for the juniors.

"There are four sponsors for the Minkey/Hookin2Hockey program and eight sponsors for the W2 and W1 teams,” he said.

Sponsors shirts are being presented to the players at 9am, 9.30am and 11am Saturday when Zerner will interview each of the sponsors in front of team members, officials and parents.

Corney said it had been a number of years since the association had arranged sponsors for junior teams.

"We're excited to welcome these new and returning sponsors to Warwick hockey,” she said.

All junior games in Warwick hockey are played on a Saturday morning, the majority on the synthetic turf but some on grass which gives the players some experience on grass for the many state carnival games which are played on grass fields.

This season, all senior fixtures are being played mid-week, mixed on Tuesday night, ladies games on Wednesday and men's on Thursday.

There are openings for more players in all senior and junior grades, find out more by turning up at Queens Park on Saturday morning or calling Kerri Fitch on 0403408 111.
