Tale of man surviving lightning strike near Ipswich debunked

UPDATE 12PM: A WOMAN who claimed hey boyfriend was injured by a lightning strike while taking the washing off the line in Thursday night's storm may have been exaggerating.

The man's girlfriend claims he was injured when a bolt of lightning struck beside him at Esk but reports from Queensland Ambulance Service don't match her claims.

Cassy Biloela posted a confronting snap on Facebook of a man being treated at a hospital with a nurse wearing pink scrubs.

"Stay safe! My poor boyfriend Zachary was taking washing off the line as the early storm approached our home near Esk," she posted.

"Lightning hit our clothes line as he was coming inside. He is stable condition but in pain.

"Stay safe please not worth being outdoors."

She claimed he was taken to Kilcoy Hospital but health services were unable to confirm if there was a like admission on Thursday night.

A Queensland Ambulance Service Spokesperson said they were not called to the incident.

INITIAL: A MAN is said to be recovering in hospital after reports he was injured by lightning while taking washing off the line during yesterday's storm.

A Queensland Ambulance Service Spokesperson said they were not called to the incident.

Strong winds, rain and large hailstones ripped through the region yesterday afternoon, hitting Ipswich at about 3.30pm and bringing down 28 power lines. 

Close to 200 homes in Ipswich and Somerset regions were without power for hours.
