Man charged after woman stabbed at East Toowoomba unit

UPDATE: A Harlaxton man has been charged after allegedly stabbing a woman in a home invasion early this morning.

A woman, 37, was stabbed once in the back by a man police alleged forced his way into a Scott St unit about 3am today.

The man fled on foot but was arrested a short distance away.

The woman was taken to Toowoomba Hospital for treatment where she remains in a serious but stable condition.

The Harlaxton man, 34, was charged with one count each of enter dwelling with intent by break, wilful damage (domestic violence) and grievous bodily harm (domestic violence).

The pair was known to each other.

EARLIER: A man and woman involved in a stabbing incident in East Toowoomba have been taken to hospital.

Police were called to the property with reports of a disturbance about 3.30am Saturday.

Paramedics were also tasked to the scene and transported a man and woman to Toowoomba Hospital.

The pair had suffered minor injuries in the incident and were transported in stable conditions.

Police set up a crime scene at the home and investigations are continuing.

Detectives are yet to speak with the man and the woman.

It is the second reported stabbing incident in Toowoomba in less than 12 hours after a man was stabbed in the neck in Newtown about 6pm Friday.

There is no suggestion the two incidents are linked.
