Men attacked with sticks, bat in Lockyer Valley

TWO men were attacked with sticks and a baseball bat after an argument turned physical.

Police have charged a 23-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy after the serious assault happened in Laidley yesterday.

About 5pm yesterday a group of people became involved in a verbal altercation on Wyman Cout when it allegedly turned physical.

Police said the men were assaulted by the man and boy from the group, who were armed with sticks and a baseball bat.

A 70-year-old man suffered a fractured arm, bruising and lacerations.

A 50-year-old man suffered minor injuries.

The 23-year-old man was charged with assault occasioning bodily harm, serious assault of a person over 60, going armed as to cause fear and acts intended to main, disfigured or disable.

He will appear in the Ipswich Magistrates Court on September 19.

The 16-year-old boy was charged with assault occasioning bodily harm, serious assault of a person over 60, going armed as to cause fear and acts intended to maim, disfigure or disable.
