Child safe after being locked in car in Oakey car park

UPDATE: THE child locked in a car at an Oakey car park is now safe and well.

A Police spokesman confirmed the mother of the child had arrived to open the door at the IGA in Campbell St before emergency services needed to act.

Earlier reports from QFES suggested the mother was shopping at the time.

Paramedics arrived on scene but a QAS spokesman said the child did not require treatment or transport to hospital.

BREAKING: A CHILD has been locked in a car outside a busy shopping centre, according to reports.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services crews have been tasked to help police free a child believed to be locked inside a car outside IGA in Oakey.

Two QFES crews are en route to the incident reported at the Campbell St car park.

The incident was reported at 2.30pm.

The temperature in Oakey is currently 33C.
