Police praise patrons' behaviour at Roma Rugby Races

ROMA police have commended revellers at the town's annual rugby league race day for their good behaviour and responsibility on the roads.

About 3000 people turned out for the Roma Rugby Races on Saturday night with football matches and horse racing.

Police patrolling the area on Saturday night reported no drink drivers were detected and no reports of disturbances or unruly behaviour.

The majority of the town's hotels and motels were booked out for the popular carnival.

"It's a great event, it's good for the community and the town," a police spokesman said, adding that despite an increased presence of officers in town there was no incidents needing police attention.
