Routine traffic stop catches illegal immigrant in region

A VIETNAMESE man in Australia illegally has been arrested in the region after a routine traffic stop.

Roma police intercepted the man in Mitchell on Saturday for a random traffic stop and checks found he was in the country illegally.

He was taken into custody and spent the night in the Roma police watch house.

Australian Border Force officials are expected to travel to Roma today and transport the man to Brisbane for processing.

It is believed the man had been living in Victoria before he was arrested yesterday.
