POLICE are searching for the thieves who broke into Kingaroy Car and Dog Wash and stole an amount of spare change.

It is the second time the Rogers Rd business has been burglarised in the past six months.

Kingaroy Senior Sergeant Brent Gerber said the break-in occurred on Saturday, September 9 between 11pm and midnight.

"The offender has jimmied open a vending machine and stole an amount of coins,” Snr Sgt Gerber said.

"It appears to have been a male offender, wearing a hooded jumper, long pants and gloves and attempting to hide his face.

"The offender appears to be using an angle grinder from CCTV footage.”

Although the amount of money stolen was small, the damage was excessive.

Business owner Richard Mason said the repeat offending was frustrating as he had just recovered from the last break-in and had plans to secure the site.

"We were about to install the next level of security, which is vibration sensor, but they (the thieves) were a week too early,” Mr Mason said.

The thieves used a grinder to cut open the coin slot but were unable to access the money.

They also broke open three of the four coin operated vacuums, two of which had to be replaced following the earlier theft.

Police are appealing to the wider business community and they'd like to speak to anyone who receives payment for products in a large amount of coins.

If you have information that could help police, call Crime Stoppers on 1800333000.
