Skipper to miss Vancouver Sevens
RUGBY UNION: Australia's men's captain Sam Myers will miss the Vancouver Sevens with an abdominal strain as the side tries to improve on the sixth-place finish in Las Vegas.
The loss of Myers is the only change to coach Andy Friend's squad, with Simon Kennewell coming in as his replacement and Tom Lucas named captain.
Australia qualified for the cup quarterfinals in Vegas where they lost to runaway world series leaders South Africa.
Lachie Anderson was a standout performer, named in the tournament "dream team" in what was just his second world series appearance.
"We have the obvious bumps and bruises but we have pulled up very well,†Friend said.
"We have a very exciting pool with France, Japan and USA.
"We are neck and neck with the USA on the series standings (equal fifth place) so it's a great opportunity for us to have them in our pool.
"France are a dangerous team and we have only played them once since Rio.
"We've given the guys a good rest and we are getting ready for Vancouver."
Australia's first game against France kicks off at Sunday 3.30am AEST.
The Canada women's leg of the world series will be held in Langford in May.
