Slattery's prediction for the Wallabies starting fifteen

WITH the first Wallaby squad of the year selected for the administrative and commercial obligations camp (how things have changed!), our focus sharpens somewhat towards this year's test starting fifteen.

I'm guessing this squad is more of an indication of the way the selectors are going rather than a definitive group - Quade Cooper and Nick Phipps being noticeable in their non-selection.

Anyway, as I've mentioned before, while Aussie rugby suffers from a lack of depth we can still pull together a pretty powerful bunch of rugby players.

My starting team from those selected for the weekend's camp, has five Brumbies, five Tah, four Reds and one Rebel.

This is a very evenly selected line-up, and does not reflect a Super Rugby team standings.

And there's no place for a Force player here.

The team has plenty of experience and tried and tested combinations which are vital to take on the British and Irish Lions.

And three world's best players in their position (Genia, Smith and Horwill).

Starting XV

15: Jesse Mogg (Brumbies)

14: Digby Ioane (Reds)

13: Pat McCabe (Brumbies)

12: Berrick Barnes (Waratahs)

11: Adam Ashley-Cooper (Waratahs)

10: James O'Connor (Rebels)

9: Will Genia (Reds)

8: Wycliff Palu (Waratahs)

7: George Smith (Brumbies)

6: Michael Hooper (Brumbies)

5: James Horwill (Reds)

4: Rob Simmons (Reds)

3: Ben Alexander (Brumbies

2: Tatafu Polota-Nau (Waratahs)

1: Benn Robinson (Waratahs)

And you would hope Cooper comes in, pushing O'Connor to the wing and Ashley-Cooper to the bench.

Pretty powerful group indeed.
