LIVERPOOL striker Luis Suarez has been banned for 10 games by the Football Association for biting Chelsea's Branislav Ivanovic during Monday's 2-2 draw between the sides.

He will miss Liverpool's final four games of this season and the first six of the next.

However, the ban falls well short of the longest handed out by FA - the nine months imposed on former Socceroos goalkeeper Mark Bosnich and Manchester United's Eric Cantona.

Bosnich was banned after he tested positive for cocaine while playing for Chelsea in 2003, and Cantona's kung-fu kick of a fan in 1995 saw him sidelined.
