ANYONE on the lookout for a free home might just be in luck - so long as you've got somewhere to put it.

The two-bedroom cottage at 16 Parkes St in Lismore is not for sale, it's being offered free to a good home.

The house is on a rental property belonging to Mrs Jane Kruse, and rather than demolishing the building to clear the land, Mrs Kruse has chosen to give it away.

"We did the same thing with the house next door," said Mrs Kruse.

"We don't need it anymore. It's old, but it's in good nick and anyone who wants it can take it."

The catch? There is no catch, all you need is a place to move the cottage to, and the means to move it.

"Quite a few people have expressed interest," said Mrs Kruse, "but it's quite expensive to remove it, so it's still there."

"We've had a few phone calls from people who live on farms, who want to take it to their farms and use it for holidays and things like that."

If you can afford the dismantling and transportation costs, the free house on Parkes St is still available.

Interested persons can call Mrs Kruse at 04 0466 2178.
