Wasabi burns hot at prestige awards

A NOOSA restaurant has taken out top honours in the Queensland Good Food Guide awards, announced at a gala presentation in Brisbane this week.

Wasabi restaurant at Noosa Sound was named the best regional restaurant in the state, as well as joining culinary luminaries such as Brisbane's Ortiga and ARIA, in scoring two coveted chef's hats.

"Owner Danielle Gjestland is a consummate restaurateur, keeping an eye on the floor to ensure the service team performs with equal finesse," the guide's editor Natascha Mirosch said.

Ms Gjestland said the win was a testament to the restaurant's loyal clientele "who inspire us to strive to be the best they can be".

Sails, Noosa Heads, was highly commended for its wine list. Other Coast chef hat winners include The Long Apron, Montville;

Berardos, Noosa; Spice Bar at Mooloolaba; The Tamarind, Maleny; The Spirit House, Yandina; and Ricky's Main Beach.
