PREMIER League side Wigan reached the FA Cup final for the first time in the club's 81-year history, but that triumph was overshadowed after fans of semi-final opponents, Millwall, started fighting among themselves at Wembley yesterday.

Wigan beat the Championship side 2-0 after goals from Shaun Maloney and Callum McManaman, and will now play Manchester City in the final.

But it was images of the violence that erupted at the Millwall end of Wembley which that will leave lasting scars from the encounter.

Television footage showed bloodied supporters, police using batons, and a child in tears as the fighting escalated. Police later said 10 people had been arrested.

Millwall chief executive Andy Ambler vowed to rid his club of those who had shamed it.

"Our position is clear. Anyone associated with our club found guilty of violent behaviour will be banned indefinitely from Millwall matches, in addition to any punishment they receive from the authorities," he said.
