Woman drowns, another missing at Noosa National Park

A WOMAN has drowned at an unpatrolled beach near Noosa National Park.

Emergency services and lifeguards were called to Granite Bay at Noosa Heads after two people were said to be in distress in the water.

CPR commenced on the woman, but police have said she died on scene.

Another man is believed to be still missing.

The pair were believed to be rock climbing and had fallen into the water.

The remote location is about 40 minutes away from the closest emergency service personnel.

The AGL Action Rescue Helicopter has been called to assist in the search
