Woman pleads guilty to poisoning daughter with chemo drugs

A FORMER Mackay woman has pleaded guilty to poisoning her daughter with chemotherapy drugs she bought online.

The woman, 22, who can not be identified to protect the identity of her daughter, appeared briefly today in the Brisbane Magistrates Court.

She told the court she wanted to plead guilty to the charge of grievous bodily harm.

The case hit the headlines in April after the woman was arrested and it was revealed she had been giving chemotherapy drugs to her four-year-old daughter since July 2012.

As a result, the young girl become seriously ill and her mother took to social media to garner sympathy for her daughter's plight.

The woman made no application for bail.

The woman is set to be sentenced in the Brisbane District Court at a date to be set.
